The awards ceremony for the Baotou Branch of the (Inner Mongolia) National Carbon Metering Center and the launching ceremony for carbon neutrality on Baotou Forest and Grass Carbon Sink were held together in Baotou on June 21.

At the ceremony site, the two digital platforms – the Baotou identification and circulation platform of forest and grass carbon sink and the Baotou inclusive platform of forest and grass carbon – were launched.

Liu Jiashun, secretary-general of the China Green Carbon Foundation, attended and announced the establishment of the Baotou Special Fund of China Green Carbon Foundation.

Liu said in his speech that the Baotou special fund will be committed to serving the construction of forest and grass carbon sink (Baotou) pilot zone; support innovative exploration in carbon sink afforestation, forest management, protection and restoration of wetlands and grasslands, as well as research measures for carbon sequestration.

Baotou officials said the city will promote the construction of a Baotou national pilot city and pilot areas on forestry carbon sink; strive to form a Baotou model of monitoring and measurement for carbon sinks, as well as the regional trading of carbon sinks; and provide Baotou as a model for national forest and grass carbon sinks.

During the event, enterprises from the Baotou forest and grass carbon ticket scheme signed subscription agreements.
