Mandula Port resumes iron ore import

Updated: 2023-07-06

Container trucks loaded 29.8 metric tons of imported iron ore entered Mandula Port in Baotou from Mongolia on July 1, marking the resumption of iron ore import business at the port since this year.

Due to the rise in freight between Mongolia and the loading area this year, the port has suspended the iron ore import business. Rising domestic iron ore prices and lower freight rates have recently prompted companies to resume importing iron ore.

"This is the first time our company has imported iron ore since we contacted Baotou Customs and expressed a desire to import iron ore. Baotou Customs actively guided us to go through the relevant procedures, saving a lot of tedious procedures," said the head of the port business of Inner Mongolia Duling Energy Co.

Next, Baotou Customs will continue to do an excellent job of policy publicity and work guidance, promote the supervision of iron ore imports, and help increase shipments at Mandula Port.
