The Baotou municipal government signed a cooperation agreement with Zhejiang University to establish a joint silicon materials research center and held a signing ceremony on July 9.

Yang Deren, a distinguished academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and esteemed professor of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Zhejiang University, was in attendance at the event and expressed his admiration for the considerable advancements made by Baotou in the realm of the silicon industry. He also noted with optimism the promising growth of Baotou's industrial development.

Yang, on behalf of Zhejiang University, expressed that the university is expected to fully leverage the university's advantages in scientific research and talent cultivation in the field of silicon materials, closely integrate with Baotou's industrial development needs, and carry out vital technological breakthroughs and the delivery of excellent talent teams.

The Baotou government also hoped to comprehensively cooperate with Zhejiang University in the integration of industry, education, and research, as well as in other fields, to better combine the university's valuable resources with the Baotou silicon industry and promote the transfer and commercialization of new ideas, new technologies, and new achievements in the city.
