The Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Industry and Information Technology Department recently announced the 21st batch of autonomous region-level enterprise technology centers. Among the 28 enterprises, seven were from Baotou.

There are currently 54 autonomous region-level enterprise technology centers in Baotou, accounting for 21.8 percent of the regional total and more than anywhere else in the region.

In recent years, the Baotou municipal bureau of industry and information technology has focused on the establishment of innovative platforms such as enterprise technology centers and industrial design centers as a crucial approach to promote technological innovation and development among enterprises. The bureau has established an industrial innovation platform incubation library consisting of 372 enterprises, leading to a significant improvement in the technological innovation capabilities of the companies.

Currently, Baotou boasts the only national-level manufacturing innovation center in the rare earth field – the National Rare Earth Functional Materials Innovation Center. The numbers of recognized autonomous region-level enterprise technology centers and industrial design centers in Baotou both rank first in the region.

In terms of industrial design centers and service-oriented manufacturing demonstration enterprises, Baotou took the lead in the region in carrying out city-level innovation platform recognition. So far, 26 city-level industrial design centers and 32 city-level service-oriented manufacturing demonstration enterprises have been recognized.

In the future, the goal for the bureau is to foster more than 20 industrial enterprise innovation platforms each year, thereby supporting high-quality development of the industrial economy.
