The 18th Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Natural Science Academic Annual Conference was held in Baotou on Aug 3.

Qiu Aici, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and professor at Xi'an Jiaotong University, and foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences and chief scientist for Environmental Protection of the CHN Energy Investment Group, Zhu Fahua, attended the conference.

Zhao Ji, chairman of the Inner Mongolia Association for Science and Technology, and Zhang Rui, Mayor of Baoutou, delivered speeches.

Zhao stated that the Inner Mongolia Association for Science and Technology will unite and lead the many scientific and technological workers in the region to advance economic development and technological innovation.

Efforts will be made to improve talent teams, make good use of talent, support experts and scholars in leading original and pioneering scientific and technological research, and promote the commercialization and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements to build an industrial scientific and technological innovation center with global influence.

Zhang introduced the economic and social development and technological innovation work of Baotou, saying that the annual conference is an opportunity for Baotou to accelerate the aggregation of innovative resources and promote the in-depth integration of innovation chains and industrial chains.

The city will provide the best environment and services, make every effort to attract more high-end talent, and cultivate more local experts.

The theme of this year's conference is "Empowered by Science and Technology, Innovation Leads to High-Quality Development." It was jointly organized by the Inner Mongolia Association for Science and Technology, the regional department of science and technology, the regional department of education, and the regional department of human resources and social security, with the cooperation of the Baotou Association for Science and Technology.

At the conference, Baotou was awarded the title of "Innovation-Driven Demonstration City," and the Inner Mongolia Association for Science and Technology's Digital Technology Industry-University Union and the Society Service Station were inaugurated.
