Baotou crew protects passengers affected by typhoon Doksuri
Affected by Typhoon Doksuri, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region continues to receive heavy rainfall. At 12:50 on July 30, the K396 passenger train was forced to stop at Luopoling Railway Station in Mentougou district, Beijing, due to water damage ahead.
After stopping, the crew inspected the carriage, registered passengers' information, and kept people calm and updated.
As the train runs dry of food towards evening, the crew walks for nearly five hours to purchase supplies and medicine for the 976 passengers, who receive them free of charge. [Photo/Baotou Daily]

"The situation was very dangerous," said Wang Yong, captain of the Qingdao team for the Baotou passenger section of the Hohhot Railway Bureau.
"On one side of the train is the reservoir, where the water is rising fast, and on the other side is the mountain, where there is the possibility of a landslide. So we urgently need to transfer the passengers to safety as soon as possible," he added.
"When we were exploring a safe route for passengers, we saw the water had washed out the ground under the tracks, and the deepest point of the collapsed ground was about eight stories high," he noted.

Passenger Li Zhanquan, 72, said with his wife, "It was raining so hard that we couldn't see out the train window. A crew of over 30 staff members did their best to serve and comfort more than 900 passengers."
At 16:18 on Aug 4, all members of the crew from Baotou return safely. They are awarded the title of "the most beautiful Baotou people" and some condolence money at the station. [Photo/Baotou Daily]
