The 15th Sports Meeting of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region was held in Ordos as scheduled on Aug 8, and nearly 40,000 spectators attended.

The competition will be held from Aug 7 to 16, with the participant scale of 15,000 person times. More than 1,250 athletes from the Baotou delegation participated. In addition, Baotou will host the table tennis, badminton, Tai Chi competitions of mass group.

The torch relay and the subsequent cauldron lighting ceremony within the stadium dude excitment. Lu Wen, former captain of the Chinese women's basketball team, Chen Dongqi, the first athlete from Inner Mongolia to compete in the Olympic Games, Zhang Yao, a young race walker, Li Jinyu, a silver medalist in women's 1500-meter short track speed skating at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and Dou Dan, a reigning world boxing champion, took turns to pass on the torch in a relay fashion.

The opening ceremony ended with the audience singing "China, I Love You".
