As one of the sub-forums of the 15th China Baotou Rare Earth Industry Forum, the first Baiyun Lecture Hall of Baogang Group and the 60th-anniversary celebration of Baotou Rare Earth Research Institute was held on Aug 15.
Yan Chunhua, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of Lanzhou University, and Huang Xiaowei, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chief scientist of China Grinm Group Co, gave keynote speeches.
Up to now, the Baotou Rare Earth Research Institute has built the "National Key Laboratory of Bayan Obo Rare Earth Resources Research and Comprehensive Utilization," "Rare Earth Materials International Science and Technology Cooperation Base," "North Rare Earth Industry Productivity Promotion Center," "Rare Earth Metallurgy and Functional Materials National Engineering Technology Research Center" and other research platforms.
Gan Yong, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and chairman of the National Advisory Committee on New Materials Industry Development Strategy, hoped that Baotou Rare Earth Research Institute would make new achievements in the field of high-end rare earth research and application with first-class scientific research strength, and make more significant contributions to the high-quality development of China's rare earth industry.
In addition, the institute was expected to provide more intellectual support for the construction of "two rare earth bases (China's largest rare earth new material base and the world's leading rare earth application base)" and the creation of "world's rare earth city."
The Baiyun Lecture Hall was also hoped to attract more academicians and experts to participate, form a high-level rare earth industry dialogue and exchange platform, and help the high-quality development of the Baotou rare earth industry.
During the meeting, all experts and scholars also visited the rare earth museum, the rare earth institute pilot base, and the smelter in the city.
