Baotou banner creates zero-waste tech

Updated: 2023-08-21

Since the start of this year, Tumd Right Banner in Baotou has been committed to promoting zero-waste technology.

By optimizing the way in which energy is created and used, and promoting the comprehensive utilization of solid waste in power plants and promoting the comprehensive utilization of agricultural waste, the banner has accelerated the formation of a new industrial pattern, production and lifestyle that saves more resources and better protects the environment, helping to build a "zero-waste city".

In January, the banner took the lead in building a 300,000-kilowatt photovoltaic demonstration project for the agro-optical industry. This can generate 610 million kilowatt hours of green electricity a year, and save 184,000 metric tons of standard coal per year compared to coal-fired power stations that use the same amount of electricity.

At the same time, 12 power plant photovoltaic power generation projects in Tumd Right Banner New Industrial Park have been put into operation.

The banner has also carried out the recycling transformation of its industrial parks. As a result, Inner Mongolia Shengxiang Paper Co and Inner Mongolia Chikun Trade Co have cooperated on recycling waste packaging in the new industrial zone.

In 2022, the banner launched a project that will by 2024 handle 1.4 million tons of solid waste coal gangue a year. The first phase will accommodate 500,000 tons annually. The second phase will shift this up to 900,000 tons of coal gangue, which can be sold as raw materials for other manufacturing industries and extend the industrial park's use of recycling.

Another crop straw project was gradually implemented from 2020 to 2022. This saw the creation of a straw collection, storage and transportation system, with the straw used as feed, fertilizer and other resources. In 2022, 767,000 tons of crop straw were used, representing 92.6 percent of the banner.
