Baotou encourages urban media communication

From September 2022 to August 2023, netizens nationwide searched "Baotou" 36.6 million times and released more than 319,000 Baotou-related videos on Douyin – a short video social platform in China, which were viewed 26.77 billion times. The 2023 Baotou New Media Conference was held in Baotou on Sept 12.

Well-known experts and scholars of new media across China, central and local news media, and well-known bloggers and representatives of online platforms such as Tiktok, Tencent and Sina attended the event. They talked about their media experience and learned about the results of new media development in Baotou.

Liu Jingjing, secretary of the Party committee of the Art Research Institute of the Communication University of China, and Dong Fei, director of public affairs of Douyin Group (Shandong), talked about the themes "the underlying logic and goals of urban media communication" and "short video helps urban media communication," respectively. The two industry professionals explained the positive role of new media in building an urban image and specific practical experience.

In recent years, Baotou has promoted the integration and development of traditional media and new media. At the conference, Baotou selected awards in five categories: outstanding news, government affairs, excellent bloggers, brands of network theory communication, and outstanding contributions of network activities, and presented the awards on the spot.

"I will continue to enrich my videos' content so that people can not only learn scientific facts about food, but also understand our beautiful Baotou," said Wang Silu, a Douyin blogger who won the "Excellent Blogger" award.
