South Africa-based engineer Zhao Xiaoming, representing Beiben Trucks Group Co in Baotou, addressed technical challenges in the assembly of new vehicles at the Beiben factory on Oct 24. This marks his fifth year of being assigned to South Africa.

Beiben Trucks Group Co, aligning with the Belt and Road Initiative, has successfully promoted its high-quality heavy-duty truck products. In 2010, the group established a company named ESI in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, becoming the first Chinese automotive manufacturer to build a factory in the country, and pioneering a new model for localized production abroad.

Beiben's company in Pietermaritzburg has developed a complete ecosystem in South Africa, covering procurement, production, sales, modification, and services, contributing positively to the local industry. The "Power Star" brand of Beiben has gained popularity in the South African engineering vehicle market, finding extensive applications in road construction, mining, and real estate development, thereby supporting infrastructure development.

ESI has been responsive to local needs, such as introducing modifications with trailer tilting functionality in 2022, which proved highly successful.

South African employees have benefited from the technical expertise of their Chinese colleagues. Despite having only four Chinese staff members, the ESI company has fostered close and friendly relationships.

Beiben enjoys a broad base of support in South Africa, including from local residents using their heavy-duty trucks, those employed in Beiben's industrial chain, beneficiaries of charity training programs, and local residents reliant on Beiben water tankers for their water supply.

Beiben's international expansion, particularly in South Africa, exemplifies the principles of the Belt and Road Initiative. Over the past decade, the group's products have reached more than 100 countries, providing high-quality products, technology, and services to global customers.
