As a flagship aid project of China in constructing the "Belt and Road" Initiative, the Mongolia Shantytown Transformation Project – undertaken by China Second Metallurgy Group Co in Baotou – in Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia, capped on Nov 4.

In the past decade, Baotou city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has steadfastly walked the path of open development under the "Belt and Road" Initiative. From January to October 2023, the import and export trade volume between Baotou and countries involved in the "Belt and Road" Initiative reached 14.47 billion yuan ($1.99 billion), a year-on-year increase of 36.8 percent.

The Hungary-Serbia Railway is a landmark joint construction project between China and Central and Eastern European countries under the "Belt and Road" Initiative. Seven months ago, Baogang Group in Baotou custom-made 22,600 metric tons of high-quality steel rails for the railway. After the project is put into operation, the journey between the capitals of Hungary and Serbia will be shortened from eight to three hours.

From 2013 to the present, Baogang Group has exported more than 13 million tons of steel to countries and regions involved in the "Belt and Road" Initiative.
