The National Development and Reform Commission recently issued the first batch of lists for carbon-peaking pilot projects, comprising 25 cities and 10 development zones. Baotou city was among the initial groups selected as a carbon-peaking pilot city.

The initiative instructed each pilot city and development zone to prioritize the construction of carbon peaking trials as a critical initiative to facilitate a comprehensive green transformation of the local economy and society. They were urged to coordinate and plan key tasks, explore and implement reform measures, and diligently advance significant projects.

Simultaneously, each pilot city and development zone was called on to formulate implementation plans according to the "National Carbon Peaking Pilot Construction Plan" requirements and the "Guidelines for the Formulation of Carbon Peaking Pilot Implementation Plans", tailoring the plans to their specific circumstances.

Ultimately, the commission will audit the implementation plans developed by each pilot city and development zone, providing feedback and suggestions for any necessary modifications.
