The Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College – located in Baotou city in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region – recently signed a collaboration agreement with the chest surgery department of Beijing-based Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University.

During the signing ceremony, it was announced Xuanwu Hospital will run a facility called the Baotou Medical Center at the Baotou hospital, which will specialize in chest surgery. In addition, the Beijing hospital will run a training center in the field in the Baotou hospital.

Zhang Yi, director of Xuanwu Hospital's chest surgery department, said that going forward to his hospital would have a physical presence in Baotou.

"In the future, our team will be stationed at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College – actively participating in outpatient services, surgeries, teaching rounds, surgical guidance and research direction."

The deputy dean of the Baotou hospital, Zheng Liansheng, said a full upgrade was ongoing at the facility.

"While leveraging the strengths of disciplines such as gastroenterology to drive the overall development of the hospital, we are also focusing on further optimizing and upgrading all disciplines," Zheng added.

With access to the high-quality medical resources from Xuanwu Hospital, the Baotou facility is said to be committed to promoting the coordinated development and integration of its chest surgery, as well as enhancing scientific research and education levels.

Through the regular presence of the Beijing experts, the hospital is aiming to provide streamlined medical services to patients.

Starting Jan 2, a chest surgery expert team from Xuanwu Hospital will conduct daily diagnosis and consultations at the Baotou hospital.
