Walking into the Dacheng Zhuluhui Community in Jiuyuan district, Baotou city, visitors can now find a recently deployed intelligent garbage recycling machine, which helps residents turn waste into cash.

The machine is equipped with an electronic touch screen, featuring six separate deposit slots for paper, metal, plastic, old clothes, glass, and hazardous waste.

Residents simply need to scan the QR code on the touch screen of the machine with their mobile phones. After sorting and depositing the waste, the screen immediately displays the weight of the deposited items and the corresponding amount received.

Under the guidance of staff members from the Baotou bureau of urban management and comprehensive law enforcement, a resident surnamed Chen successfully registered an account on the WeChat applet which connects to the machine.

Chen mentioned, "The exchanging operation is quite simple. I just exchanged some waste paper for 0.62 yuan ($0.09), and it's already in my WeChat payment account."

It is understood that Jiuyuan district has implemented waste sorting in 124 communities and 45 villages.
