Baotou allocates over 2b yuan into eco protection

In 2023, Baotou city allocated a total of 2.11 billion yuan ($294.71 million) to support various construction projects involving environmental protection, forestry and grassland, and urban development.

Of this, almost 1 billion yuan was invested in projects related to ecological environmental protection, including initiatives such as clean energy heating and groundwater assessment.

An allocation of 310 million yuan was dedicated to sewage treatment, aimed at enhancing the city's level of recycled water utilization. The funds were utilized for the restoration of the ecology and environment as well as the improvement of surface water quality in the Yellow River basin.

Additionally, 290 million yuan was earmarked to advance the implementation of land greening pilot demonstration projects, thus contributing to the improvement of the quality of the forest ecosystem.

An investment of 110 million yuan supported river and lake governance, involving the implementation of projects for the treatment of two small and medium-sized river systems and the ongoing reinforcement project for the Hondlon Reservoir.

Furthermore, 95 million yuan was allocated for mining and land reclamation. This included projects such as the reclamation of abandoned mines in Guyang county and the remediation of abandoned industrial and mining land around Bailingmiao town in Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner.

In addition, Baotou city allocated 290 million yuan to support enterprises in strengthening technology R&D and application in the ecological field, providing new impetus for Baotou's development.
