Updated: 2024-02-22

Baotou has allocated 53.09 million yuan ($7.38 million) of central government subsidies to rural vitalization projects in 2024, mainly to support the development of new rural collective economy projects, to provide follow-up assistance for poverty alleviation and relocation projects, and to contribute to the development of ethnic groups.

Among the projects, those that focus on developing a new rural collective economy received a total of 12.6 million yuan in order to support 18 villages in the city, with each village receiving 700,000 yuan. The funds will be used to actively guide villages to emphasize their local characteristics so that they can develop new service industries. The funds will also be used to extend the industrial chain of agricultural and livestock products in these villages.

Another portion of this funding will be used to support the implementation of two follow-up projects for poverty alleviation and relocation in intolerant areas, totaling 11.7 million yuan. First, the Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner relocation project was given follow-up support for its soilless cultivation project, which will benefit 245 people. The second project to receive follow-up support is the cold storage construction project of Baotou Huanghuatan Green Food Park, which will benefit 270 people in 11 resettlement areas.

In addition, 28.79 million yuan will be used to support the development of ethnic groups. The funds will mainly be used for characteristic industrial projects, such as astragalus processing and beef cattle breeding. They will also be used to improve irrigation facilities, the facilities in farmer's markets, and road construction projects.
