Walking into the Guyang County Huangqi Industrial Park, high-quality astragalus can be seen on assembly lines, on their way to be processed into various products such as astragalus liquor and sliced astragalus.

"Guyang astragalus is a landmark product, previously sold as raw materials to other places at low profits. By processing these raw materials, we have increased the added value of the products. While the company gains profits, it also further promotes regional economic development," said Gao Jinhu, the person in charge of Inner Mongolia North Astragalus Food Co.

In recent years, Guyang has extensively explored the development potential of astragalus, continuously enhancing the construction of the industry chain, building the "North Astragalus" brand, and promoting the high-quality development of the astragalus industry.

To improve the quality of astragalus seedlings, Guyang conducts yearly technical training for farmers, and signs standardized planting orders with farmers, providing them with seedlings and organic fertilizers.

Qin Gang, chief engineer of Inner Mongolia North Astragalus Food Co, stated, "We select organic astragalus from Guyang as raw materials and utilize bio-extraction technology to extract and utilize the effective components of organic astragalus to the greatest extent."

"The company's research and development team is led by nationally renowned microbiologist and geneticist Professor Ding Youfang. The team has conducted in-depth research on biological extraction, biological preservation technology, biological culture, nutrition, and food therapy, aiming to solve the historical problem of astragalus causing excessive internal heat."

Recently, astragalus liquor products were officially put into production at the company. Gao said, "The astragalus liquor we produce uses high-quality organic astragalus from Guyang as raw materials, bringing a new development idea to the domestic liquor industry."

It is learned that the annual output of Guyang astragalus accounts for one-tenth of the total national output.

Yao Junjie, secretary of the CPC Guyang County Committee, said, "Guyang will focus on the construction of a high-end green organic astragalus processing base to produce authentic medicinal materials. For this purpose, we will introduce deep-processing enterprises for health products such as tablets, powders, capsules, and oral liquids."
