Some national first-level protected wild animals, including vultures, were recently discovered in the Daqing Mountain National Nature Reserve in Baotou. A young red fox was also found in the city.

These discoveries reflect the improvement of the natural environment in Baotou.

Since August of last year, the city has worked to tackle 141 environmental problems. After 100 days of effort, 19 of these issues have been resolved.

Among them, measures such as improving rainwater and sewage diversion management and implementing pilot projects for the reuse of recycled water have significantly improved the environmental quality of Baotou.

Furthermore, efforts in wetland conservation have been fruitful, with an increase in the number of wild plants and animals in wetlands, particularly in the number of birds.

From 2018 to 2023, the number of migratory waterbirds stopping over in the city increased from over 15,000 to over 46,000.
