Baotou rare earth zone named national base for global talent
The General Office of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) recently issued a notification, officially designating the Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Industrial Development Zone as a "National Offshore Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas Talent".
The Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Industrial Development Zone is located in the city of Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region. This recognition makes the zone the first national-level offshore base approved by CAST in Inner Mongolia.
To date, the zone has nurtured 11 talents who have received national honors and five talents who enjoy special subsidies from the State Council. The zone has attracted a total of 497 high-level talents, mainly returning overseas entrepreneurs, who have established 428 enterprises. Four overseas workstations have been established by Baotou, and cooperation mechanisms for resource innovation have been established by the city with 29 overseas institutions worldwide.
Moving forward, the zone will work to gather more innovative entrepreneurial talents and projects from overseas.
By 2027, the zone plans to develop into a region with international influence and competitiveness, serving as a hub for high-level talent from overseas, an international science and technology cooperation zone, and a demonstration zone for incubating and applying innovative achievements.
