Baotou museum enters first tier list

The Chinese Museum Association recently completed the fifth round of national museum grading evaluations. The Baotou Museum was selected and rated as a national first-class museum, which is the highest status a museum can achieve in China.
The evaluation of museums covers various aspects, including collection management, displays and exhibitions, and social services.
Established in December 1998, the Baotou Museum is responsible for collecting, protecting, and promoting physical objects that are representative of Baotou's excellent historical and cultural achievements. It has 136,480 items in its collection, including 398 sets of precious cultural relics.
The museum has six permanent exhibition halls, covering the Baotou Ancient History and Culture Exhibition, the Baotou Modern and Contemporary History Exhibition, the Baotou Contemporary History Exhibition, the Inner Mongolia Ancient Rock Painting Exhibition, the Baotou Folk Culture Exhibition, as well as the Inner Mongolia Thangka Painting Exhibition.
The museum also has one flexible exhibition hall for holding some social activities. In 2023, the flexible exhibition hall received 500,000 visitors. It has also developed more than 20 online and offline social activities such as student experience and learning courses to meet the needs of local residents and visitors.
