Zhang Haibin, director of Baotou Museum, stated, "Museums exhibiting contemporary history are rare nationwide. We've made a bold attempt to showcase Baotou's history from the founding of the People's Republic of China to the new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics."
The Exhibition of Modern History of Baotou is divided into three sections, detailing Baotou's century-long struggle from the late Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to 1949, while the Exhibition of Contemporary History of Baotou illustrates the development of Baotou's industrial system from 1949.
The Exhibition of Contemporary History of Baotou features artifacts such as enamel plates from Baotou Enamel Factory, leather shoes from Baotou's First Leather Shoes Factory, bicycles from Inner Mongolia Second Machinery Factory, travel bags from Baotou Canvas Products Factory, and a series of liquors from Baotou Distillery, providing a comprehensive and authentic cultural space to understand Baotou's historical and socioeconomic development.
