Baotou's tourism street joins autonomous region-level list
The Inner Mongolia Department of Culture and Tourism recently announced the list of autonomous region-level tourist and leisure street demonstration bases, and Xiwan Tourist and Leisure Street made the cut.
Xiwan Tourist and Leisure Street is located in Xiwan village, Goumen town, Tumd Right Banner, Baotou city, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
The street is surrounded by the largest orchard in the western part of Inner Mongolia, spanning nearly 30,000 mu (2,000 hectares). The orchard is famous for growing more than 20 types of fruits, including apricots, plums, apples, cherries, nectarines, and citrus.
In recent years, Goumen town has vigorously developed its unique rural tourism industry, integrating ecological resources, fruit farming, village architecture, folk customs, and intangible cultural heritage.
The creation of Xiwan Tourist and Leisure Street exemplifies the development of local rural tourism. The street features restaurants, intangible cultural heritage experience shops, themed homestays, and folk culture performances.
In recent years, Xiwan village has received some honors, including being named a National Key Rural Tourism Village, one of China's Beautiful Leisure Villages, a National Intangible Cultural Heritage Tourism Key Village, and a Traditional Chinese Village.
