The signing and unveiling ceremony for the Great Wall History and Culture Research Base took place at the Guyang Qin Great Wall National Cultural Park in Guyang county, Baotou on June 14.
The base will be established by the Institute of Ancient History at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
Zhao Xianhai, director of the General History Research Office at the Institute of Ancient History, CASS, signed the agreement with Guyang county to establish the base in the county. Zhao also unveiled the plaque for the base.
Additionally, experts and scholars who attended the event engaged in in-depth discussions on the historical and cultural value of the Qin Great Wall, the current state of research, and future development trends.
Guyang county is home to the remains of seven sections of the Great Wall from five different dynasties, providing significant reference value for the study of the early history and culture of the Great Wall.
In recent years, Guyang county has actively explored its local historical and cultural heritage, undertaking the preservation and restoration of Qin and Han Great Wall relics and improving the surrounding environment of the Qin Great Wall with greening projects. These efforts have shaped Guyang county into a unique tourist destination. On May 1 of this year, the Guyang Qin Great Wall National Cultural Park officially opened to the public.
With the establishment of the base, the Institute of Ancient History at CASS will engage in comprehensive cooperation with Guyang county.
This collaboration will encompass the protection of Great Wall relics, the excavation of cultural heritage, and the development of cultural and creative products, all aimed at supporting the construction of the Great Wall National Cultural Park.
