The renovation project for rainwater, sewage, and water supply pipelines on the Baiyun-Sanba Section of Shaoxian Road in Baotou was completed and opened to traffic on June 19, 42 days ahead of schedule.
Construction on this section of road began on May 22, and it spans a total length of 7,420.79 meters.
According to Yao Yong, deputy director of the Engineering Section at the Baotou Municipal Development Center, the Baiyun-Sanba Section is lined with numerous enterprises, institutions, and residential communities, meaning the road closure has significantly impacted traffic.
"It was originally expected to be completed by the end of July, but it reopened more than 40 days ahead of schedule. This early completion has minimized the impact on businesses along the street," said Yuan Yuncai, the owner of a restaurant along the section. "With the upgraded pipeline network, we won't have to worry about flooding from rain causing traffic issues anymore," he added.
Yao mentioned that renovations on other sections of Shaoxian Road are also being expedited. Once all sections are completed, road flooding in the area will be reduced and the rainy season will be less of an ordeal for the city. The upgraded sewage pipelines will enhance drainage capacity, reduce sewage overflow, and improve the urban environment and residents' quality of life.
