The 19th "Chunhui Cup" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Chinese Overseas Students was held in the Baotou Rare Earth High-Tech Industrial Development Zone on July 27-28, while the 2024 Baotou Entrepreneurship Tour for Overseas PhDs was held at the same time.

The two events featured project presentations by overseas PhD researchers, providing a convenient and efficient platform for exchange and collaboration.

During the event, officials from the zone introduced the business and innovation environment of both Baotou and the zone. The inauguration ceremony for the National Offshore Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas Talent in Baotou was also held.

"The model adopted by the base allows high-end overseas talent to innovate and start businesses abroad while implementing their results domestically," said Wang Xiaoting, director of the High-level talent innovation division of the science and technology innovation bureau of the zone.

She added that the base would further promote the free flow of innovation resources and the introduction of overseas talent, injecting new vitality into Baotou's technological innovation and industrial development.

Xie Wei, a professor at Zhejiang Ocean University and a PhD from Swinburne University of Technology in Australia, stated, "Baotou has abundant rare earth resources, which greatly benefit my sci-tech project. I hope to see the project implemented in the city."
