The train exited China through the Ereenhot Port in Inner Mongolia and crossed Mongolia before continuing on to its destination.
The launch of the train signifies the start of regular operations of China Railway Express trains from Baotou. This train carried a total of 55 standard containers, with a cargo weight of over 590 metric tons and a value of 12 million yuan ($1.68 million), covering a distance of 8,000 kilometers in about 15 days.
The next step for the Baotou bureau of commerce is to expand more direct routes for the China Railway Express train, promoting the city's integration into the Belt and Road Initiative and participation in the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor.
The China Railway Express is expected to become an important bridge for connectivity of policy, infrastructure, trade, and finance between Baotou and countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
