The 2024 National Fluorine Resource Green Development and Innovation Conference was held in Baotou on Aug 5.

The conference was jointly organized by the China Association of the Fluorine and Silicone Industry and the Baotou people's government, with the tagline "Green Cycle and Innovation-Driven Development."

At the conference, representatives from more than 150 companies and renowned scholars in the industry discussed the green development of the fluorine industry and optimization and collaboration in the supply chain, and explored promoting the in-depth development of fluorine resources and the cross-border integration of fluorine material innovation.

Academician Lyu Jian from the Chinese Academy of Engineering delivered a speech at the event, highlighting Baotou's unique advantages in fluorine resource reserves, green development and utilization, and the innovative development of the fluorochemical industry.

His research team has developed a complete chain of technology for fourth-generation fluorine-containing environmentally-friendly refrigerants and has accumulated significant expertise in high-end fluorine-containing new materials such as electronic cooling fluids and fluoropolymers. He expressed a desire to strengthen cooperation with Baotou to contribute to the formation of new quality productive forces in the fluorochemical field.

It has been reported that the city currently has a production capacity of 600,000 metric tons of fluorite concentrate and aims to reach a production scale of 1 million tons by 2025, providing a stable supply of raw materials for the development of the fluorochemical industry.
