The Mandula Port-Baotou zero-emissions transportation demonstration project – one of two key zero-emission routes being developed by Inner Mongolia autonomous region – recently began construction.
The project is a demonstration model for a series of heavy-duty truck battery swapping stations. The milestone is said to mark a new phase in Baotou's transition towards its green and low-carbon road construction.
The project's first phase, involving a total investment of 49.88 million yuan ($6.99 million), will be used to build six heavy-duty truck charging and battery swapping stations.
These stations will support long-haul transportation along a 300-kilometer route.
Each station is designed with eight battery compartments and two charging units – capable of servicing 10 heavy-duty trucks per hour, providing clean energy support for low-carbon road operations.
