Horse racing event takes place in Baotou's Shihua Grassland

The Shihua Grassland National Equestrian Endurance Championship took place from Aug 23 to 25 in Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner, Baotou city. The total prize pool was 550,000 yuan ($77,505), and over 200 riders from across China participated.

The National Equestrian Endurance Championship is reported to be the highest-level event of its kind in China. This competition featured a 120-kilometer individual endurance race, a 100-kilometer individual and team race, and endurance events covering 40 km and 80 km.

Riders galloped across the grasslands throughout the events, thrilling the audience with speed and skill. "This is my first time in the banner, and the endurance race and equestrian performances are truly inspiring," said Wang Xiaoying, a visitor from Beijing.

Liu Jun, a competitor from Tianjin, said, "I am here for the 100-km race. The Taomagou track is excellent and ideal for endurance racing."

According to He Yixuan, general manager of Beijing Jiuzhou Golden Horse International Cultural Development Co, the track's diverse terrain, including mountains, grasslands, sand, and villages, provides stunning scenery and perfect conditions for endurance training.

In recent years, Darhan Muminggan Joint Banner has focused on its ecological and tourism resources, hosting multiple Nadam festivals and horse racing events. In the future, the banner aims to further integrate its horse industry with its culture and tourism development.
