Baotou improves sewage outlet
Baotou city has taken significant steps to improve water quality at its largest discharge point, the Weilu project, which impacts the Erdaosha and Yellow rivers. The city has implemented multiple measures to control pollution and improve water quality.
Baotou has completed several key projects, including desalination and wastewater treatment upgrades at Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co and comprehensive renovation projects at Baogang Group. These projects have reduced wastewater discharge and ensured pollutant levels meet regulatory standards.
The city also expanded wastewater treatment capacity by 129,000 cubic meters per day through upgrades at the Wanshuiquan, Beijiao, and Jiuyuan treatment plants. Over 3,366 kilometers of city drainage pipelines were inspected, correcting 806 misconnected points.
The ongoing construction of a reclaimed water pipeline for the Northern Erdaosha River, set to finish by the end of the year, will further enhance water reuse. Wetland projects have also improved water quality, helping to meet discharge requirements and significantly improving the water quality of the Yellow River tributaries.
