In recent years, Baotou has been dedicated to preserving the essence of the Yellow River's cultural heritage by enforcing strict environmental laws. The city has implemented comprehensive plans for ecological protection and high-quality development, including revisions to local wetland protection regulations and establishing the Baotou Yellow River National Wetland Park.

The Yellow River, known as the mother river of the Chinese nation, flows majestically through the landscape, embodying the harmony between humanity and nature. Baotou sits along the banks of the Yellow River basin, a vital water source and ecological barrier for the city, rich with stories of coexistence.

These efforts have led to a remarkable increase in wetland protected areas, with a stunning 88.77-percent growth in reserve size and a 114.14- percent expansion in lake areas. Additionally, the bird population in these reserves has surged from 77 to 242 species, creating a vibrant ecosystem where wildlife thrives alongside residents.

Baotou has launched special actions to clear waste and identify environmental hazards in the Yellow River basin to bolster these initiatives.

By integrating ecological protection into a legal framework, the city is committed to safeguarding the river, ensuring its waters remain pristine and its banks lush. The ecological corridor along the river continues to evolve, with the Nanhai Wetland shining as a jewel of nature, attracting visitors with its unique landscapes and rich biodiversity.

Baotou has prioritized ecological health and green development, establishing a robust cultural and tourism integration system. Beginning in October 2023, the city will initiate a 21-month campaign to address wastewater issues, enhance water quality, and promote sustainable practices.

Investments in smart water management and ambitious ecological restoration projects reflect Baotou's commitment to ensuring that the Yellow River thrives, benefiting the environment and its communities.
