E-commerce helps Baotou rural vitalization
"Our glutinous corn is a variety grown on a plateau 1,500 meters above sea level, with thin skin and full fruit grains." In the endless corn field, the anchor "Kaile Fresh Fruit" enthusiastically began a professional live sale of goods.
This is a new way to promote crop production and marketing in Wudangzhao town, Shiguai district, Baotou. At the packing site, more than 20 villagers wearing masks and hats sat scattered in the center of the workshop, wrapping plastic wrap and weighing and packing quickly. Boxes of sorted corn lined the walls, waiting to be loaded onto trucks and sent across the country.
"Every piece of corn that is handed out is picked by hand, wrapped in plastic wrap, packed into a box and shipped the same day it is picked to ensure everyone has the freshest possible corn."
In recent years, the town's Gongfangdi village has been vigorously cultivating green planting and breeding, agricultural tourism, rural tourism and other industries. In order to change the low profit sales model of buyers' door-to-door acquisition, the village created the most popular new media platform account and began trying to sell special agricultural products by live broadcasting and shooting short videos.
"Since the start of live delivery, our village has sold more than 1,000 pieces of corn a day, with a profit of 5 yuan ($0.7) per piece." Through picking, packaging, transportation and other work, it has also provided local jobs for 20 additional villagers, with each person earning 150 yuan per day," a local village cadre said.
