Baotou has extended its operating hours across various public cultural institutions, bringing culture and learning into the night. Museums, libraries, and cultural centers throughout the city traditionally operated only during standard working hours, making it difficult for the working public to visit on weekdays despite the increasing popularity of these venues.

Now, all major public venues in Baotou, including libraries, museums, memorial halls, art galleries, and cultural centers, remain open until 8 pm or later.

At night, Baotou Municipal Library's self-study reading rooms are brightly lit and packed with readers, from students preparing for exams, professionals catching up after work, and even parents guiding children through the world of books.

More than 8,000 books are available in the reading room, alongside self-service borrowing machines, drinking water, eye-friendly lamps, and multi-functional charging stations.

Beyond libraries, Baotou's cultural centers have launched 12 evening art classes this year, covering dance, choral singing, vocal performances, traditional opera, and trumpet.

Cultural venues have also started offering themed activities during extended hours, many of which are free, even on holidays. From calligraphy and photography exhibitions to public lectures and live performances, these programs aim to make art and knowledge more accessible and engaging.

Flexible class schedules, mainly on weekday evenings and weekends, further ensure that more people can participate, while course content emphasizes professionalism and diversity.
