Baotou achieves significant results in forest pest control

Updated: 2025-02-18

In the past year, Baotou has made notable progress in forest and grassland pest management, with a controlled area of 94,700 mu (6,313 hectares) and a zero damage rate. The non-hazardous prevention rate reached 99.7 percent, and overall pest occurrence remained mild, with a declining trend.

Efforts included strengthening accountability through the forest chief system, detailed planning with targeted task lists, and enhanced technical training for field staff members. Cross-regional cooperation agreements have been signed with neighboring cities to strengthen joint prevention and control efforts.

New technologies, such as drones, have been introduced to enhance safety and efficiency, and public awareness activities have been conducted, distributing over 10,000 educational materials. The city will continue to improve monitoring, quarantine enforcement, and scientific pest control to ensure ecological security.
