Hondlon district ignites urban vibes with integrated approach
Hondlon district celebrated the Lantern Festival with a series of cultural, tourism, and business activities, creating a lively urban atmosphere. A spectacular folk arts performance featuring yangge (a popular traditional Chinese folk dance performed during festivals), stilts, and traditional taige (a unique Chinese folk performance with children dressed in costumes standing on a mobile, disguised platform to create the magical illusion of figures floating in air) attracted large crowds.
The event also included a bustling bazaar with over 120 stalls offering charity services, cultural tourism experiences, intangible cultural heritage displays, and local delicacies. The food section proved particularly popular with traditional snacks such as lamb skewers, tanghulu (a traditional Chinese snack consisting of hawthorn berries skewered on a bamboo stick and coated in a hard, shiny layer of rock sugar syrup), and sweet rice balls.
Additionally, handicraft zones and immersive cultural experiences enhanced public engagement. This integrated approach not only showcased traditional culture, but also boosted local consumption and tourism, demonstrating Hondlon's effective strategy in promoting cultural-economic development through festive celebrations.
