Baotou allocates special fund for farmer risk protection
Baotou has invested 4.41 million yuan ($610,000) in government-subsidized insurance to safeguard 360,000 local farmers and herders against natural disasters and other risks. Since its launch in 2021, the program has paid out 1.56 million yuan in claims through partnerships with PICC and China United Property Insurance Co.
The initiative, now covering all eligible rural residents, serves as a social stabilizer by ensuring prompt compensation for losses. Finance authorities will strengthen oversight of the 2025 policy renewal process to maintain seamless protection. This program delivers tangible security to the agricultural communities.
