The General Surgery Department of Baotou City Central Hospital was approved as a 2025 national key clinical specialty construction project supported by the central government, becoming the only hospital in Baotou to receive the honor.

This approval marks the department's entry into the "national team", further strengthening the ability to treat severe diseases and provide better medical services for patients.

The National Health Commission selects the national key projects. They represent the highest level of medical technology and management in China, aiming to improve clinical services by enhancing specialty abilities, promoting clinical technology innovation, and achieving transformation.

The Baotou project, which has a three-year construction period, requires annual self-evaluation, mid-term assessment, and final acceptance. Its goals are ensuring technological breakthroughs and improving service capability.

The Department of General Surgery, an important clinical department of the hospital, has been committed to clinical research and technological innovation in liver and gallbladder diseases, gastrointestinal tumors, and minimally invasive surgery.

The central government will provide special funding support for the project, and the hospital will allocate matching funds according to the construction plan, which will be included in the specialized budget annually to support the high-quality development of the specialty.
