Baotou paces up rare earth industry
Yan Hongwei, an NPC deputy and chief researcher at Baotou Research Institute of Rare Earths, attended the two sessions with advice on promoting the high-quality development of Baotou's rare earth industry.
Baotou relies on its unique rare earth resources and industrial advantages. It has been committed to applying internet of things methods to scientific research, production, and optimization of magnetic materials. It has also improved research and production efficiency through data governance.
Baotou introduced 9,332 high-level and urgently needed talents in 2024. By attracting and cultivating talents, Baotou is committed to building a team of rare earth personnel, providing a solid guarantee for constructing "two rare earth bases", the biggest rare earth new materials base nationwide and a globally advanced rare earth application base.
This year, Baotou aims for a rare earth industry output value of 130 billion yuan ($17.98 billion), exceeding last year's 100 billion yuan and ensuring greater achievements in constructing the two rare earth bases.
"We hope rare earth new materials can enter the low altitude economy of electric aircraft and the emerging field of electric ships and contribute to people's livelihoods and our country's economic and social development. The construction of the two rare earth bases will come to fruition in Baotou and Inner Mongolia autonomous region," said Yan Hongwei.
