Updated: 2025-03-27

The Baotou Rare Earth High-tech Industrial Development Zone has entered a new phase of development with several landmark projects commencing operations.

Wolong Electric Drive (Baotou) Permanent Magnet Motor Co Industrial Park, covering 72,000 square meters, began production in March, marking a significant milestone in the zone's industrial expansion. Projects from Zhejiang Shangchi Electric Co and Top Union Holdings Ltd are also rapidly progressing, with production expected to start by the middle of this year. These initiatives highlight the zone's strategic focus on enhancing the rare earth industrial chain and developing high-end applications.

To further support technological advancement, the zone has unveiled eight targeted measures to boost innovation. These policies offer financial incentives ranging from 50,000 to 10 million yuan ($6,897-$1.39 million) for research and development, talent cultivation, and the commercialization of technological achievements. Companies such as JL MAG Rare-Earth Co and Inner Mongolia North Jiaxuan Technology Co have already benefited from these initiatives, reporting increased production capacity and breakthroughs in energy-efficient solutions.

With 47 new projects currently under construction, the Rare Earth High-tech Industrial Development Zone is reinforcing its position as a global leader in rare earth applications while driving the transition toward advanced manufacturing.

This comprehensive approach demonstrates Baotou's commitment to building a resilient and competitive rare earth industrial ecosystem.
