Baotou strengthens fiscal support for security, development

Updated: 2025-04-07

In 2024, Baotou's finance bureau allocated 4.15 billion yuan ($574.7 million) to bolster regional security and sustainable development. This funding has supported key initiatives, including border area infrastructure, port economy development, and direct subsidies for border residents through an all-in-one card payment system, ensuring national food security and stable livelihoods.

Significant investments have enhanced public safety through upgraded law enforcement equipment, smart policing systems, and crime prevention networks. The city has also allocated funds to grassroots governance, providing government-subsidized disaster insurance for farmers and herders, while supporting 2,990 community organizations and 4,000 social workers across 10 counties.

Additional resources have promoted ethnic unity by improving healthcare, education, and cultural services in minority areas. All programs are operated under strict budget performance management to ensure efficient and transparent use of funds, reinforcing Baotou's role in safeguarding regional stability.
