Baotou allocates 11.76 million yuan to upgrade wastewater treatment

Updated: 2025-04-08

Baotou in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region has secured 11.76 million yuan ($1.63 million) in provincial reward funds to enhance urban wastewater treatment at seven facilities, including the northern suburb water purification plant and another three plants in Guyang county and Damao and Tumed Right Banners.

The funding follows strict provincial standards requiring recipients to maintain 95 percent compliance with discharge standards and achieve at least 75 percent budget execution from previous allocations. Eligible plants will receive 0.1 yuan per metric ton of treated water, creating sustainable incentives for operational improvements.

The municipal finance bureau has streamlined approval processes to ensure timely disbursement while maintaining transparent oversight based on environmental monitoring data. This investment aims to boost treatment capacity and efficiency citywide, supporting Baotou's broader water quality improvement initiatives.
