Baotou creates unified carbon sink map
Baotou is advancing its low-carbon transformation through multiple initiatives. The ultra-low emission retrofit project of Mintal Group Chrome Industry Science and Technology Co will reduce pollutants by 334.55 metric tons annually. The city also welcomed a new 120,000-ton electrolytic aluminum waste recycling plant in the Jinshan Economic and Technological Development Zone.
Four Baotou districts were listed as part of Inner Mongolia autonomous region's carbon peak pilot program. The city has implemented systematic policies related to renewable energy expansion, traditional industry upgrades, and environmental restoration. A newly established carbon measurement center and monitoring system has enabled the city-wide carbon sink visualization.
"We're committed to ecological development and contributing to regional carbon goals," said Zheng Yi, a staff member of Baotou's development and reform commission.
