Baotou allocates special funds to boost sci-tech innovation

Updated: 2025-05-09

Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, has invested 7 million yuan ($960,000) in the development of the Lucheng Laboratory, targeting breakthroughs in rare earth technologies. The lab currently runs 10 research projects, including a revolutionary flash-sintering technology that produces high-quality rare earth magnets in seconds, resolving traditional sintering challenges.

Three projects have achieved industrialization: lanthanum-cerium eco-adsorbents, rare earth aquarium materials, and fluorescent eutectic materials. The national rare earth product quality inspection center has assisted 26 enterprises in solving technical issues, saving millions of yuan in testing costs.

Moving forward, Baotou plans to adopt the "government subsidy + private capital" model to further support the construction of China's largest rare earth new materials base and a globally leading rare earth application base.
