Updated: 2025-05-14

Damao Banner in Baotou is witnessing a bustling farming season, with modern machinery transforming traditional practices. In Shibao town's Hongshanzi village, carrot planting is now fully mechanized, using seeders and plastic mulch layers to boost efficiency. The Mengsheng Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Professional Cooperative, led by Lu Yongwang, has expanded to 1,000 mu (66.67 hectares) of carrots, 1,500 mu of potatoes, and 2,300 mu of pumpkins, utilizing technology to reduce labor costs and improve yields.

Nearby, Hongjingtan village's sugar beet farmers benefit from precision seeders and drip irrigation, with pre-signed contracts ensuring stable sales. According to Dong Pu from the Damao Agricultural Technology Extension Center, the banner plans to sow one million mu in 2025, including 530,000 mu of grain and 130,000 mu of forage crops. To date, 98,000 mu of wheat and 5,700 mu of sugar beets have been planted.
