Baotou emerges as premier energy storage hub
Baotou has solidified its position as China's energy storage hub through comprehensive industrial development and strategic partnerships. The city recently hosted the inaugural meeting of the Energy Storage Branch of the China Association for the Promotion of Industrial Development, bringing together industry leaders to advance high-quality growth in the sector.
With a complete industrial chain, Baotou boasts upstream production of 100,000 metric tons of cathode materials and 170,000 tons of anode materials annually, midstream capabilities including 3.5-gigawatt-hour battery pack integration and 3-gigawatt inverter manufacturing, and downstream deployment of 11 energy storage stations with a total capacity of 813 megawatts/2,476 megawatt-hours.
These developments align with peak carbon emission and carbon neutrality goals while providing reliable, economical green power solutions. The city's competitive advantages, including policy support, low operational costs, and full industrial supporting facilities, make it an ideal destination for global energy storage enterprises.
