Baotou emerges as northern China's fluorine material hub

Updated: 2025-05-29

Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, is emerging as a key fluorine material production base, utilizing its 165 million metric tons of fluorite reserves - the nation's largest - and a mature industrial chain featuring giants such as Kings Resources Group. Supported by national policies and provincial backing, the city is extending its fluorine-silicon chemical industrial chain from raw materials to high-end derivatives.

The city's advantages include four chemical industrial parks, stable green power supply, and a skilled workforce of nearly one million. Its business initiatives, such as government-enterprise breakfast meetings, have optimized the investment environment.

With three operational production lines at Baogang Group and the reprocessing of Bayan Obo tailings, Baotou aims to dominate the fluorine sector's strategic layout. Industry experts predict its fluorine cluster will rival rare earths in economic significance.
