Baotou has been included in the list of national backbone cold chain logistics bases for 2025, making it the only city in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region to be selected and creating another "national brand" in the region.

The Baotou National Backbone Cold Chain Logistics Base is situated in the central and western regions of Inner Mongolia, aiming to become a core hub for the trading, transit, and distribution of agricultural and livestock products within the autonomous region. A total of 2.19 billion yuan ($304.87 million) has been invested in the base, which has a total storage capacity of 778,000 cubic meters.

Cold chain logistics is like an invisible expressway that enables the fast and stable transportation of agricultural and livestock products. The base will establish an efficient transport network to promote the connection of national and regional cold chain logistics networks, improve the scale of cold chain trunk transportation, and support the integration of cold chain logistics into modern logistics operating systems.

The base features a modern, intelligent cold chain logistics platform that utilizes new technologies, including big data and the Internet of Things, to achieve temperature and quality control throughout the entire process, such as pre-cooling, warehouse management, and transportation monitoring. This allows high-quality agricultural products to overcome geographical limitations, expand into broader markets, and enhance brand value.
