Street lights illuminate night travel for Baotou residents
Thanks to a newly completed street light project, residents of Bu'erhantu town in Baotou, North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region, need no longer worry about nighttime travel. With an investment of 500,000 yuan ($69,750), the town installed 340 energy-efficient LED lights across six villages and communities, addressing long-standing safety concerns caused by broken fixtures and poor illumination.
The project prioritized public feedback through hotlines and community meetings, with careful planning to optimize placement near key areas, such as restrooms and intersections. After two months of construction, the final light was installed on Jun 18, benefiting over 8,200 residents.
"These lights not only brighten roads, but also light the path to rural vitalization," said Hu Haidong, the town's Party secretary, highlighting the commitment to practical solutions for residents' needs.
