New progress of Baotou-Yinchuan High-speed Railway

Updated: 2025-06-30

The Baotou-Huinong section of the Baotou-Yinchuan High-speed Railway has been completed, meeting the conditions for static acceptance on the project.

Static acceptance is a crucial component of the overall acceptance of railway projects. It is a comprehensive physical examination of the construction quality, equipment installation, and commissioning quality. It is a key procedure for determining whether the project's quality is satisfactory and whether it can be put into operation on schedule.

The Baotou-Yinchuan High-speed Railway is an essential part of the national "Eight Verticals and Eight Horizontals" high-speed railway network. Starting from Baotou, it passes through Bayannur, Ordos, Wuhai, and Shizuishan, and ends in Yinchuan. The total length of the line is 519 kilometers, including 402 km in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region, with a designed speed of 250 km per hour.

The project, managed by China Railway Hohhot Group Co, started construction on April 15, 2022. On March 6 of this year, the bridges and tunnels were connected. On June 6, the Baotou-Huinong section was connected.

Once open, the fastest time for trains running from Baotou to Yinchuan will be reduced from 6 hours to approximately 2 hours, making it the quickest passage from the northwest regions, such as western Inner Mongolia and Ningxia, to Beijing.
